Kodjovi

Kodjovi is a Togolese-born contemporary artist whose abstract paintings are shaped by instinct, movement, and an unfiltered relationship to material. Raised in a large family of eight children in Togo, West Africa, he began creating at an early age, making his first sculptures from discarded building scraps. This early resourcefulness developed into a lifelong practice rooted in experimentation, physicality, and expressive immediacy.

Kodjovi’s artistic achievements have received attention across Togo and neighboring countries, with exhibitions at venues including the Lomé city art center and Hotel Sarakawa. In 2001, he left Togo for Paris, where he continued showing and selling his work. He later relocated to the United States, living and working in Los Angeles and New York beginning in 2003. His international presence expanded further during Art Basel Miami 2018, where he was ranked as one of the Top 10 Artists at the Red Dot Fine Art Fair.
