Erin Hammond's work is characterized by her focus on the immediacy and rawness of her materials. With a style that alternates between rough, expressive mark-making and carefully considered, deliberate composition, her work is a testament to the process of creation itself. Through her layering of pencil, charcoal, oil, and acrylic, Hammond experiments with color, calligraphic elements, and shading, exploring the expressive potential of each medium. While her work often features the female form, she also creates expressive abstract paintings that are equally captivating. Her compositions are imbued with a sense of (im)perfection, highlighting the unfinished nature of the human experience and our ongoing journey toward completion. It is this unique combination of technical mastery and emotional depth that has made Hammond's work highly sought-after by collectors and curators alike.
Erin Hammond's artistic journey is one of self-discovery, artistic liberation, and unbridled passion. Born into a creative household in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Hammond's artistic abilities flourished at a young age, leading her to pursue a bachelor's degree in Fine Art Painting, Sculpture, and Theatre from the University of Wisconsin. Hammond moved to Los Angeles in 2010. In 2013 she was a top-rated artist in the largest indie art competition in the US, and within weeks, her art was being sold globally. Hammond's works have been exhibited at numerous art fairs and galleries worldwide. Her original artworks can be found in international private collections around the globe.
