Mike Gough
Canadian artist Mike Gough creates autobiographical paintings shaped by memories of growing up in Newfoundland. Through simplified landscapes and restrained detail, he explores solitude, belonging, and our connection to place and the natural world. The openness of his compositions invites viewers to bring their own memories to each scene.
Born in Corner Brook, Newfoundland, in 1985, Gough earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Sir Wilfred Grenfell College and a Master of Fine Arts from Central Saint Martins in London.
His work has appeared in more than 40 exhibitions and is held in private, corporate, and public collections across Canada and England, including The Rooms Provincial Art Gallery, Humber College, the City of St. John’s, and Global Affairs Canada.
