Ekaterina Ermilkina
Ekaterina Ermilkina (b. 1975) is a contemporary oil painter known for her vibrant abstract cityscapes, where architectural forms emerge through intricate patterns of color and texture. Raised along the Black Sea coast, she developed an early appreciation for the visual character of urban environments. She earned her Master of Fine Arts from the State Art and Industry Academy in Saint Petersburg in 1998 before relocating to the United States in 2005. Based in New Jersey, Ermilkina continues to explore the relationship between architecture, perception, and the emotional experience of city life.
Working primarily with oil paint on canvas, Ermilkina employs a palette knife to apply and selectively remove pigment, building dense surfaces of small, geometric marks. Her labor-intensive technique produces richly textured paintings in which color operates both independently and collectively. Ermilkina's works have been featured in exhibitions in galleries and art fairs worldwide and have been collected throughout the United States, Canada, Germany, France, Switzerland, Japan, Hong Kong, and UAE. Notable collectors include Kelly Clarkson, Los Angeles, CA.
