About

Jane Harington is a Saskatoon-based contemporary painter whose expressive oil paintings explore landscape, florals, and place through color, memory, and emotion. Shaped by an international upbringing and her later move to Canada, Harington brings a layered sense of distance, belonging, and longing to her depictions of the Saskatchewan landscape. Working from direct observation, images, memory, prairie terrain, tangled brush, cut flowers, and abundant bouquets, she creates original paintings filled with movement and atmosphere. Her paintings are defined by bold color, textured oil paint, loose expressive brushwork, and energetic marks, creating contemporary landscape and floral artworks with warmth, movement, and emotional depth.

• One-of-a-kind artwork measuring 60 inches high and 48 inches wide
• Created with oil and oil stick on canvas
• Signed by the artist on the back

Harington’s paintings move between the openness of the prairie and the lush intimacy of the garden. Distant horizons, tangled grasses, stems, leaves, and blooms become expressive fields of color and motion, shaped by both observation and feeling. Her floral works often carry the expansiveness of landscape, with bouquets arranged as atmospheric compositions full of energy and abundance. Her landscapes hold a similar sense of intimacy, bringing together remembered terrain, painterly invention, and the emotional pull of places known, loved, or longed for.

Harington earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts with Great Distinction and Distinguished Exhibition from the University of Saskatchewan. Her work has been presented in solo and group exhibitions throughout Saskatchewan, including exhibitions at The GALLERY/art placement inc., Snelgrove Gallery at the University of Saskatchewan, The Gallery at Frances Morrison Library, Art Gallery of Prince Albert, St. Thomas More Gallery at the University of Saskatchewan, Darrell Bell Gallery, and Studio on 20th Open Studio. Her work is included in the collection of the University of Saskatchewan as well as private collections in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, and South Africa.

Jane Harington

Jane Harington is a Saskatoon-based painter known for expressive oil paintings that explore the emotional resonance of landscape, florals, and place. Her international upbringing and later move to Canada inform her relationship to the Saskatchewan landscape, giving her paintings a layered sense of memory, distance, belonging, and longing. Working primarily in oils, Harington paints both en plein air and in the studio, drawing from direct observation, images, memory, prairie terrain, tangled brush, cut flowers, and large bouquets of blooms. Her paintings are recognized for their loose, gestural brushwork,
thick paint application, energetic mark-making, and bold color. She approaches the natural world through sensation as much as representation,
allowing the subject to open into mood, movement, and emotional association.
