Max Naylor’s “Arboretum” invites the viewer into a fantastical wooded landscape, where sculptural trees, dense foliage, and glowing flower forms create a world that feels both familiar and imagined. The composition has the feeling of a garden pathway opening through layered branches and richly patterned plant life, with each section revealing another pocket of color, texture, and movement.
Soft peach, pale yellow, deep teal, moss green, coral, and bright pink tones move across the paper with striking detail. Fine India ink lines define the trees and organic forms, giving the landscape an intricate, almost illuminated quality. Max Naylor is a British artist based in Bristol, UK, where he is a studio holder at Spike Island and a tutor for the Royal Drawing School.
