About

Jacob Burmood is a graduate from the University of Kansas, where he received his MFA in Ceramics in 2013. He graduated with a BFA in Sculpture in 2006 from Missouri State University. He also taught Sculpture I as an adjunct professor at Missouri State University.

This original cold cast aluminum sculpture is 48 inches tall by 35 inches wide and 32 inches deep. This sculpture is mounted on a wooden base and is ready to display. A certificate of authenticity is included. Free local Los Angeles area delivery. Affordable global and continental US shipping is also available.

Jacob says about his inspirations: “As a child, I spent my free hours walking along a creek that had carved its way through a wooded area. All the forces that determine the path of the stream also govern the rocks, vegetation and creatures that surround it. Though their reactions to these forces differ, they remain related. Becoming part of these interwoven complexities gives me a sense of deep harmony and simplicity, and is the basis of my inspiration. The forms I create are an abstraction of the fluid nature of the universe. The purpose of each work is to find an underlying order that converges elements into a unified whole that moves as one, like a school of fish or flock of birds.”

Jacob recently moved to the Kansas City area and opened a studio where he continues to make ceramics and sculpture. He works for the Sculpture and Metals program at Johnson County Community College as the studio lab aide, and started teaching Sculpture classes in the fall of 2016.
