Steven Nederveen's work focuses on the changeable relationship we have with nature. Loving and destroying in the same breath. The darkness of the human psyche underlies many of his overtly positive and uplifting nature scenes. Oceans and forests are idealized, radiating an inner light that burns. This heightened effect corresponds to our own yearning for more, wanting to be at one with nature, to control it, to be moved by it, to tame it.This original 12-inch square ocean inspired painting is a mixed media composition on wood panel. The artwork is signed and titled on the back. The sides are painted white and it does not require framing. It is wired and ready to hang. Free local Los Angeles delivery. Affordable Continental U.S. and global shipping are available. A certificate of authenticity issued by the art gallery is included with this unique artwork. Provenance: Artspace WarehouseSteven's formal education took place at the University of Alberta, where he received a Bachelor of Design in 1995. The following year, he moved to Vancouver, BC, where he lived between the mountains and the ocean. It was during this time that he began exploring the sense of the sacred he felt in natural settings. This is where he found inspiration to use painting as a means of drawing connections between the natural environment and our struggle to be at one with it.

Steven Nederveen's work focuses on the transcendent exploration of the symbiotic relationship with nature. Nederveen's prowess in capturing the essence of seascapes and oceanic realms is unparalleled. His brush becomes a conduit for conveying the grandeur and fluidity of the ocean, elevating the depiction of waves to a mesmerizing crescendo of photorealistic brilliance.Nederveen unveils a captivating dichotomy. Beneath the ostensibly positive and uplifting veneer of his nature scenes lies a contemplative darkness—a subtle exploration of the intricate complexities of our coexistence with the environment. This heightened effect corresponds to our own yearning for more, wanting to be at one with nature, to control it, to be moved by it, to tame it.
Nederveen's paintings serve as a reflection of our collective yearning to harmonize with nature, to assert dominion over it, and yet, paradoxically, to succumb to its untamed allure. His art becomes a mirror to our aspirations, a journey through the duality of seeking control and surrendering to the inexorable forces of the wild. The fusion of photorealistic precision with profound thematic depth positions his creations at the intersection of aesthetic brilliance and intellectual engagement.
