About

Austin Reed's colorful pop urban artworks are a reaction to the diverse compositions and imagery of abstract urban environments. From a complex city landscape to pop representations of street murals, Reed's layered colorful artworks deconstruct the many aspects of a city and delves intimately into the lives of those that call cities home. He incorporates elements of street views and abstract layering into his unique paintings and transforms that rather linear view with emotionally driven gestural expression, adding movement and life to the artwork.

This 50 inch high by 72 inch wide original artwork is wired and ready to hang. Reed applied diamond dust onto the surface of the painting, this reflects light and adds depth to the work. The sides of this colorful artwork are painted and it does not require framing. It is signed by the artist on the front and the back. Free local Los Angeles area delivery. Affordable U.S. and global shipping options are available. A certificate of authenticity issued by the art gallery is included.

Austin Reed is a San Diego based multimedia artist who is driven by his own imagination to create works of art which consistently grab attention. Although Reed’s background and training is in tattoo art, the two-dimensional and pedestrian nature of the media drove him to find a far more expressive outlet in contemporary art. This rebellion against figurative illustration motivates Reed’s use of texture and mix of finishes.

Austin Reed’s mind continues to come up with creative new ideas and concepts to explore, Through this excitement and anticipation for what he will create next, he has amassed a loyal following locally in Los Angeles as well as throughout the US and internationally and is pushed to maintain this consistent thrill through art.

Austin Reed

Austin Reed was born in Ventura, California in 1989. His work is driven by his imagination and a love for city life to create works of art that consistently grab attention through an expressionistic, multi-media approach. Although Reed’s background and training is in tattoo art (he moved to San Diego in 2013 to pursue a career as a tattoo artist), the two-dimensionality and pedestrian nature of the media drove him to find a far more expressive outlet in contemporary fine art. This rebellion against figurative illustration motivates his use of texture and mix of finishes.

Each of Austin Reed’s paintings is a reaction to the diverse composition and imagery of urban environments. Incorporating street views and abstract layering into his varied compositions, Reed combines conceptual photography with cityscapes and visual poetics to explore an eclectic range of environments. When beginning each painting, Reed uses the compositions of the cityscapes as a guide for the underlying color blocking. He then transforms that rather linear view with emotionally driven gestural expression, adding movement to the artwork and allowing the viewer to see new city spaces.

Neon signs, windows, skyscrapers, and alleyways are deconstructed within each painting. A concrete environment becomes “broken,” as the many aspects of a city converge into one image. Reed’s most recent work involves figurative and textual elements inspired by urban street art and delves more intimately into the lives of those that call cities home.

Austin Reed is in his studio painting daily expanding to multiple art shows and galleries, while also doing custom works.
