About

Italian artist Alessandro Siviglia immersed himself in art from an early age. He was initially drawn to street art, where he was able to express his artistic interests by graffiti writing on large public spaces using the alias CROW. After a 15 year stretch of taking a bold, guerrilla approach to art Siviglia began to hone his current style which combines his street art background with more traditional artistic conventions.

This unique 34-inch high and 42-inch wide painting is a mixed media composition on canvas. The artist signed this work on both the bottom left corner and on the back. The sides are painted and it does not require framing. Free local Los Angeles area delivery. Affordable Continental U.S. and worldwide shipping is available. A certificate of authenticity issued by the art gallery is included.

After spending much time visiting the Filiberto Menna Art Institute in Salerno, Siviglia grew interested in developing his distinct technique. He achieved this by spontaneously choosing bold contrasting colors and unconventional mediums, such as spray paint - a nod to his street art roots. It was in Venice, Italy where he established professional relationships with local artists and was inspired to dedicate himself completely to a professional future in visual art, taking his talent from walls to canvas.

Through his abstracted figurative work, Siviglia emphasizes the 2-dimensional aspect of the paintings. This technique allows for the exploration of different ways of seeing, or perceiving, the world around us. Siviglia draws inspiration for his figures from everyday situations. His characters often include people and small stray animals, which are used to reflect his concept of relativity. This is done by creating scenes that are amalgams of time and place. Siviglia's colorful scenes simultaneously reflect a current point in time as well as his own childhood memories.

Alessandro Siviglia was born in Salerno, Italy in 1982, however, he currently lives and works in Rome. Siviglia’s paintings call to mind the Cubist era. He has exhibited extensively within Italy and received several European prizes. Siviglia's first solo exhibition was shown in 2009, in Valencia, Spain. Siviglia has more than 1,000 of his works in private collections around the world, from New York to Dubai to Paris.

After a 15 year stretch of taking a bold, guerrilla approach to art Siviglia began to hone his current style which combines his street art background with more traditional artistic conventions.

In the new way of his figurative works, Siviglia emphasizes the difference between a painting and reality, and the different ways of seeing, or perceiving, the world around us. He is drawn to observe the people, lifestyles, and domestic stray animals, which he uses to reflect his work on the concept of relativity - accounting for both his observations from cities and his childhood memories of street art.

Siviglia’s paintings bring to mind the work of Picasso with a nod to the Cubism era. He has exhibited in Italy, the United States, and Hong Kong and has received several European prizes.
