James Zamora is an American artist known for his photorealistic “aisle paintings.”  Using different spatial compositions, the artist translates common marketplace imagery into a stylized, elevated environment.   Through Zamora's work, he explores the particularity between the relationship of our eyes with the subtleties of our immediate reaction. His paintings investigate current trends and their effects on the consumer.

Zamora says of his art, “As a realist painter, I am attracted to the technical complexities of everyday life.  As a first generation Mexican American, grocery store aisles were exciting because of the abundance of food provided a sense of security for me.  This is something my Mexican parents did not have access to in their native home.  My paintings represent the positive associations of packaged food such as domestic familiarity.”
